Abstract :

Semiochemicals are crucial components of integrated insect pest control, and their use in combination with pathogenic microbes and native predators has become more important in recent years. Although plant-derived semiochemicals have been utilised to attract and maintain biological enemies in the field using techniques like trapping crops and the the push-pull process, the potential of insect smells to attract natural enemies has primarily been demonstrated in lab settings.The most commonly identified semiochemicals are those found in insect pests, parasitoids, and plant host systems. Furthermore, semiochemicals can facilitate the effective spread of entomopathogenic microorganisms. Semiochemicals are still being used to spread microbial infections, particularly bacterial and viral entomopathogens. Since several semiochemical compounds have already been studied, future study should focus on incorporating semiochemicals that into insect control strategies.This approach might be enhanced by more potent microbial agent formulations, such as granular entomopathogenic fungal (EPF) formulations, as well as biodegradable trap materials. Further research to assess species-specific strategies would also be required, particularly in situations where multiple important pests are present. Because pests and illnesses are becoming more common in agriculture, creative crop protection techniques that lessen their negative effects on the environment are required. This analysis examines the potential for synergy between phytochemical biopesticides and microbial biocontrol agents as sustainable substitutes for chemical pesticides. Through a thorough analysis of current research, we examine the ways in which Plant-derived phytochemicals like alkaloids and essential oils, together with beneficial microbes like Bacillus, Pseudomonas, and Trichoderma, boost plant resistance and reduce infections.
